Where should Velco valves be located?


Fresh air valves play an essential role: they bring fresh outdoor air indoors and ensure that your ventilation system functions properly. As fresh air flows into bedrooms and living areas (yellow arrow), indoor air circulates evenly through the home before being extracted via the exhaust vents (grey arrow). This continuous airflow keeps indoor air comfortable, fresh, and healthy throughout the year.


The recommended number of fresh air valves is approximately one valve for every 20 m² (215 sq ft) of floor area. It is important to install enough valves for the size of the property, as too few fresh air valves can create a noticeable draft due to insufficient airflow.

Velco valve automatically adjusts according to the outdoor temperature


Velco fresh air valve features a fully self-contained wax thermostat that adjusts the valve disc opening according to the outdoor temperature, within a range of +10°C to -5°C. No electricity required! In colder conditions, a minimum opening of a few millimetres ensures sufficient ventilation. If necessary, the valve can also be closed manually. By automatically adjusting to the outdoor temperature, the fresh air inlet helps prevent draughts and improves the energy efficiency of your ventilation.

Where should Velco valves be located?

The air entering through the fresh air inlets (yellow arrow) flushes the living areas as it flows toward the exhaust air valves (grey arrow) located in the kitchen, WC and washrooms, as well as walk-in closets.


The sufficient number of fresh air inlets can be proportioned to the floor area of the dwelling — one for every 20 m². It is important that the dwelling has enough fresh air inlets relative to its size, as too few will create a feeling of draught.
